Operation X Generations 1, 2 & 3
Generation 1 consisted of a Blanc De Hotot buck, a Blanc De Hotot doe, a tort Rex doe and a blue rex buck.
Generation 2 was a hold back of 2 very large mostly blanc colored long haired does.
Generation 3....is lost to me. We started having issues with bad moms and almost lost the project. 2017-2022
Operation X Generation 4
This has taken over 5 years to work on and still needs some cleaning up. This is the first generation we created that has the rex fur AND a mostly white body. We kept 2 bucks out of this litter to use. We are hoping Generation 5 will have some nice keepers. 2023
Operation X Generation 5....
We made a bad decision and sold one of the Gen 4 bucks and the second Gen 4 buck died. Not before we bred him to one of our fawn meat does (a lineage from the first blue new zealand doe I owned back in 2014-a line of great first time mothers) and a chocolate otter rex doe though. If the generation that follows doesn't take a step in the right direction, I may abandon this project all together. It will be....4-6 months before I can breed them and find out the future of them. 12-13-24
The crossing produced 2 long haired does (carrying the rex fur gene) that we held back from our meat doe and only 1 buck that had rex fur from the chocolate otter doe.
Operation X Generation 6
We did it! Our two sisters, bred to their half brother, produced 3 BLANC REX!! They are beautifully colored, only presenting white everywhere except their eyes, which have the black rings. Going forward, Generation 6 "and beyond" will be named after things found in the night sky! Starting with Mercury, Mars, Venus, and Earth.
To note, the tort does litter consisted of one black kit, meaning even though the parents appear to be Charlies, genetically they are not. They are brokens carrying the solid gene. Which is wonderful news and means we have selected promising rabbits for the project. 4/16/2025
